DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Patek Philippe, Genève, five-minute repeater with split-seconds chronograph and 60-minute register, retailed by Jaques & Marcus of New York, 53mm, heavy 18K rose gold original HC with beautiful dark blue enamel monogram inlays of initials to front and 1888 date to rear, gold cuvette bearing Patek and retailer markings as well as engraving "John from Georgie Feb. 3' 88.," white enamel DS dial with retailer marking, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, likely 30(+)J, mvt with Patek and retailer marking, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#80283 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 100.6 dwt (156.5 g). A very impressive and unusual watch with split-seconds chronograph in combination with a five-minute repeating function rather than the more typically seen minute repeating function, and the presence of a 60-minute register rather than the more typically seen 30-minute register. Watch is accompanied by a hangtag from its recent service in Patek Philippe's facility, a folder with some information from Patek Philippe regarding use of the chronograph feature, as well as a photocopy of its extract from Patek Philippe archives, which interestingly indicates a sales date some months later than the case inscription that is possibly reflective of the case engraving commemorating a special date to the recipient rather than the actual date of the watch's presentation. This watch also comes bearing a two-year warranty from 11/11/2019 that transfers with the watch by serial number.
